[ Crow will never deny a gift, but Hijikata doesn't necessarily have to go out of his way on his behalf. He's fine with something simple as clanking cups and throwing back sake. It makes him feel more mature!

So when he empties his cup, he grins as Hijikata refills his cup and raises his own cup for another cheer. Of course, Crow doesn't leave the samurai hanging, and cheerfully knocks against his cup.]

KANPAI!!!

[ He drinks a bit before, a question pops into his head.]

Hey, did you also go out drinking with your men? I'm sure things got a bit crazy! Sometimes, my band would get so plastered at the Karaoke bar!

[Crow is so brazen, but Hijikata almost respects his unabashed admission of wanting to get presents. At least he's not snobbish about what he gets! At the question he cracks a grin.]

Oh yeah, Shinsengumi parties get rowdy. It doesn't end at karaoke bars.

[How often did his commander and a bunch of the other men end up in a hostess club or even in the red light district? But that's not very Sanrio-friendly, so he leaves it at the allusion. The hostesses and courtesans are shrewd, anyway, and generally leave them penniless (and sometimes pantsless) for Hijikata and whatever underlings he forces to come with him to scrape up and drag home. Come to think...]

If you guys got all smashed drunk, how'd you get home? Just on your own? Or do you have a manager who looks after you?

[ Not Sanrio-friendly, but even if Crow comes from a kids show, they're still able to get away with a few adult themes. Especially fanservice and some weird S/M tropes.

As for Hijikata's question, Crow does have an answer, but probably not what he thinks. He drinks some more before smirking at the idea of his manager.]

Oh, we do have a manager, but he's no better than we are! He gets piss drunk too because he's a lightweight!

[Crow can be a lightweight too, it's probably a size thing.]

Though whenever that happens, Rom, our drummer is usually the designated driver or he'll make sure we get home okay if we're really intoxicated. Then he'll scold us about it the next day! He's the oldest of the group, so he doesn't get carried away. Plus, he has a full-time job too, so he tends to be more responsible because of his other obligations.

[If they both knew about that they could drink on being surrounded by S/M kinksters next... but on second thought that's not something Hijikata really wants to toast to. He snorts a little as Crow reveals his manager's inability to keep it together on a night out.]

Well, as long as someone gets everybody home in the end it's all good. If we had sake left we should drink to Rom next!

[They ought to leave it at the one bottle, though, otherwise they may inadvertently end up spending the night in some ditch. Hijikata sighs pleasantly as he empties his cup]

Speaking of your bandmates, I'm already looking forward to seeing you in concert again. The one we held in the forest last month was nice and atmospheric, but it couldn't quite compare to the stage acoustics!

[Only one bottle? Come on, live a little!]

Huh?! We're stopping there? We can definitely handle another round, no problem! We can even order a snack to help absorb some of the alcohol, too! Let's get tempura! Fried food is the best with sake!

[They won't end up in a ditch...hopefully! Before Hijikata could protest, Crow is already flagging the server over.]

You are? Ren usually organizes the concerts, so I guess whenever that'll be. And oh! I did sign up to do some shows at the Phoenix Roost on some Saturdays, too! You should definitely stop by! At night, the downstairs area of the cafe turns into a live house! They have pretty good acoustics there!

[So much for Hijikata's attempt at being responsible... Crow is a good enabler, so he doesn't protest and leaves the next order up to him.]

Tempura? You know how to hook me, don't you?

[Tempura goes so well with mayonnaise (but then everything does in Hijikata's world)! He's pleased to hear that Crow has a new venue to sing at, too.]

The Phoenix Roost is a café? I thought it was a night club. Well, neither is quite my scene, but I can make an exception to see you play.

[Honestly, what even is "his scene" besides the battlefield and the illusion of a myaonnaise factory he made up in his head?]

[Hijikata must be catching on that Crow is probably the ringleader when it comes to his band's outings.]

Well, everyone loves tempura!

[ Once the server comes over, Crow orders another bottle of sake to share and an assortment of tempura to compliment it. Unfortunately, the bottle arrives before the food and Crow takes the liberty of refilling Hijikata's cup first.]

Yeah, it's a cafe during the day. I've been there a few times, it's actually a nice space to pass the time and write lyrics.

[ Though, he'll be glad if Hijikata did come to one of his shows. He could even bring Chester, too. There's something different about a live performance versus listening to a CD. Crow sips his drink already feeling the buzz, but the tempura arrives on cue, sizzling and piping hot. The server puts down a few condiments to eat with it, like tempura sauce, pickled ginger, and even ketchup. Though despite his choices, he decides to experiment.]

I wanna try it with your mayo!

[ He really must be tipsy!]

[Hijikata isn't fussing since they're in the middle of Camelot City, not in the Ash Mountains or Dusklight Woods, so even if they end up smashed drunk they won't run much risk of meeting a terrible fate! He lets out a pleased little hum as the tempura is set down; it looks and smells mouth-watering, and the new sake tastes good too.]

You want mayonnaise? Be my guest!

[He passes the bottle over after drowning his share of the food in the condiment, curious how Crow will like it.]

Take as much as you want, don't be shy! I brought a second bottle just in case.

[As you do...]

Um...but why?

[ Even though Crow is a little buzzed, the fact that Hijikata brought a second bottle of mayo just makes his eyebrows furrow. This guy really has a mayo addiction! Unlike, the samurai who smothers his food in mayo, Crow is a little more practical, scooping out a glob and using it as a dipping sauce. He tests it out with a piece of shrimp tempura. He takes a bite with a plentiful dollop and takes a moment to savor on it. Finally, he reveals his verdict.]

It's actually not bad!

[Now, will he become a fanatic like Hijikata, hell no, but it does change his idea of mayonnaise. Crow continues to eat dipping into the mayo every now and then.]

So when did your addiction to mayo start?

[Color Crow curious.]

[He brought two bottles in case he runs out, of course. It's a real risk during an extensive meal! He attentively observes Crow and smiles when he expresses his liking of it, but then gets mildly confused at his next question.]

Addiction? I just like it. It's tasty, isn't it?

[He likewise picks up a big mayonnaise-dripping shrimp and eats it... oh, this combined with the sake reminds this of home altogether now. If he closes his eyes it's almost like he's back in Edo for a moment.]

You just like it?

[ That's valid, but still Hijikata uses a lot. He assumed there was some traumatic experience behind all of that. Maybe he didn't have enough to eat as a child or mayonnaise brought him comfort during hardships.

He and his bandmates could eat an excessive amount of toppings too, but they at least changed it up sometimes.]

No, it's actually pretty good! I always thought mayo was so bland, but it compliments fried food so well!

[Crow is still going to make use of the other toppings as well splashing a bit of the tempura sauce and pickled ginger on the next bite! This is heaven!]
